1. God gives Wisdom
We often go to others for advice, and I believe this can be good. Sometimes others can make the murky water a little clearer. They can show a new perspective, provide information you didn’t know about and even caution you before you step into deep waters. But, this should not come before asking God for his guidance. It is in those still, quiet moments that you will hear His voice telling you what to do and sometimes He will lead you to someone with excellent counseling, but being driven to someone should be from the instruction of God.
I can forget how God knows it all, not intentionally, but fear and doubt can make me think I need to be in control. He knows it all, every detail of our lives, even the future details. He also knows the number of hairs on our heads, so why do we not run to Him for advice? For clarity? For instruction? He is Wisdom! And he desires to give us Himself.
”“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let, not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”
The proposition of the text is equivalent to this--a just notion and conception of God is the beginning of wisdom
When we understand that God wants to direct our steps, He wants the best for your business, family, and life; we will trust Him with the details of our lives. What is it in your business today that is causing you fear? Is their strife in the workplace? Are your resources running thin, or are entirely out? Now, …now is the time. Now is the time to ask for Wisdom. God can fill you with knowledge. Exodus 31:3 (NKJV) “And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship…”
He can fill your workplace with knowledge and Wisdom, Exodus 31:6 (NKJV)
“And I, indeed I, have appointed with him Aholiab the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and I have put wisdom in the hearts of all the gifted artisans, that they may make all that I have commanded you:”
Ask God for diligent workers and to fill them with Wisdom, humility, and love. And because of this, lives will be transformed in all aspects throughout your company.
2. Wisdom brings joy
Ecclesiastes 2:26(NKJV)
“For God gives wisdom and knowledge and joy to a man who is good in His sight;”
Joy. It excites me to see that Wisdom can bring joy. Can you remember a time when someone said a few short sentences and everything fell into place or your planning and forethought resulted in a strategy that excited everyone to move forward? Knowing what to do with knowledge can release a burden from yourself and others. How should we run our company? Who should we hire? What is the best strategy to move forward? How can I help others to see the mission and vision God has laid upon my heart? These will all be questions that need Wisdom.
We reap the consequences of our choices. The choices we make can add stress or peace in our lives. We will not always make the right decisions because we are human, but we can make more right decisions if we ask God for help. There should be a fear mixed with love that keeps us understanding our need for God’s Wisdom, not to go it alone and try to rely on our strength or knowledge. The greatest thing we can do for ourselves and others is to ask God for insight and direction. When we do, everyone will grow through trials and celebrate with humility.
3. Wisdom brings Life
Life. Riches can cause turmoil and destruction if we love it more than God and people. Wisdom brings life. There is no situations were Wisdom is despised. We are more productive with sound Wisdom. It keeps our eyes focus and alert to the needs and difficulties that a job can bring.
‘Money, too, when not combined with Wisdom, leads a man into every species of dissipation and folly, and opens to him temptations to every kind of sensual indulgence. But Wisdom provides for his mind such occupations as place him at a distance from temptation, and especially when his facilities for profuse expenditure are on a contracted scale. And thus, the man of Wisdom moves in a far safer and happier sphere; his pleasures being more refined, and his employments more innocent.”
Simeon, Charles. “Commentary on Ecclesiastes 7:12”.
Wisdom will bring life into the workplace. Even through trials, hard decisions and conflict of personalities; Wisdom with love and grace will triumph overall. In Proverbs, it says to Get Wisdom! If you lack understanding if you are not sure about what to do next- Get Wisdom!
4. Wisdom brings success
Success: Wisdom brings success. “If the iron be blunt, and he do not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength: but wisdom [is] profitable to direct.” (Ecclesiastes 10:10)
How often have we worked hard and only found ourselves worse off then we began. Just like the individual in the scripture above, if he would have sharpened the metal, it would have taken less work on his part.
Wisdom is that sharpened edge that makes the work a little easier. It is our way of working smarter and not harder. It helps us to see the gifting and talents of others, to give individuals opportunities that they did not know they would be skilled in, but we could see it in them and chose to let go of the reigns and let God.
What is success? It is reaching a desired goal or purpose. The first question we will need to ask before moving forward is, what is God’s purpose for our business? Knowing His plan will bring real success, not superficial success or prideful success. It will bring a loving success that will benefit you, your employees, customers, and even others, such as a church, a ministry, missionaries, orphans, and more. God has a purpose for your success, and it is not just for you, but others.
I pray today that before you move forward that you have an appointment with God. Give Him your doubts and fears. Let Him have full authority over your plans. There is no joy, life, or success without Jesus. We can have false impressions of these three things, but if they are not from Him, one day they will all fail…crumble to the ground. But with God, our joy will be complete, and we will hold on to its sweetness in all circumstances. With God, your life will be full, not of stuff, but people and love and peace. With God, Success will look different. The heartbeat of all you do, your business, your life will be in sink with the pulse of God.
